The Givens Philanthropy Team recently stopped by Givens Gerber Park during a special pet therapy session for residents. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as residents gathered around the campus to greet and pet the visiting horses. Their gentle presence brought warmth and smiles, making this Halloween truly memorable.
Pet therapy offers a wide range of benefits for older adults in residential communities. Interacting with animals has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness. It also encourages social engagement, boosts mood, and can even help lower blood pressure. For many residents, these moments of connection with animals provide comfort, companionship, and a renewed sense of purpose.

One resident shared, “It was the highlight of my week. There’s something so calming and joyful about being around animals, especially horses. It made me feel connected and cared for.”
This meaningful experience is a reflection of Givens Communities’ commitment to Life Enrichment, one of the five key philanthropic impact areas. Life Enrichment includes capital investments, programs, resource partnerships, and endowment opportunities designed to enhance resident and community wellbeing. It encompasses spiritual life, visual and performing arts, wellness education and programs, outdoor and common spaces, and pet therapy.
By donating to the Life Enrichment Impact Area, you help nurture wellbeing through creative possibilities for personal growth, wellness, and connection. Your support enriches the lives of residents across all Givens campuses.
